Meet the Board Members

Heather Heasman

Chair of the Board
Community Volunteer

I was asked to join the Risk Management Committee by a client who happened to be Chair of the Wood's Homes Board at the time. I'll never forget my first tour of the place - I've been hooked ever since.

Ernie Kapitza

TD Canada Trust (Retired)

I first came to Wood’s 13 years ago because I was captured by their mission statement and values. The organization had such a positive culture including the expansion of the programs and as they say their hotspots and dreams. They captured my imagination.

Terry Cotton

Past Chair of the Board
Community Volunteer

I learned of Wood's Homes through friends. So shortly after retiring I had an opportunity to give back...15 years on I continue to volunteer for a most unique children's mental health centre. Acclaimed by its peers to be an exceptional place for children and families.

Kevin Screpnechuk

President, Screpco Investments Corp.

Another Board member asked me to get involved while we were flying to Las Vegas. His energy and spirit hooked me in. I have been proud to serve Wood’s Homes ever since. Eight years running!

Neil Gregory

Investment Advisor
Richardson GMP Ltd.

A friend/mentor got me involved in the Gala Dinner Committee, and I was so impressed with the work that Wood’s does in our community that I decided to get more involved. 14+ years later I’m still involved.

Scott McLeman

Partner, Gowlings Lafleur Henderson

I was invited by a past Board member to participate in the annual Wood’s Homes Foundation Invitational Golf Tournament. After learning about Wood’s at the event I wanted to get involved and do something to help the children.

Kerry Lyons

President, Muirfield Resources

I was having dinner with the former chair of Wood’s Homes and after hearing about all the great work they do, I was all in!

Dallas Paquette

Director, Retail Operations
Ply Gem Canada Inc.

I had heard that the folks at Wood’s were a very talented, caring and dedicated bunch. Nothing is worse than a sick kid.

Robert Hayes

Senior VP, Prairies Division
Bank of Montreal

I was approached by another Board member who told me about Wood's.   I was intrigued and met with a Director and former Board Chair Terry Cotton who impressed me with the passion they had for how Wood's works with youth and their families ; youth who in many cases others in society have given up on.  I was hooked from there as I had no appreciation for how many there are in society that need the amazing support I have learned over the years that Wood's can provide.  I have really enjoyed my time being associated with such an incredible group of people who make up Wood's, and the respective Boards.  As you know I have been educating my family about Wood's inclusive of my kids attending our company volunteer day and our entire family attending the gala dinner.  As well our company volunteer day at a Wood’s has allowed many people to learn about the organization and the work they do firsthand.

Kata Acheson

Private Banker, Royal Bank of Canada

I was introduced to Wood's Homes via their annual children’s benefit dinner many years ago. I have always seen them as a beacon of light for children who are struggling with mental health issues. They give them a chance to work through whatever they are dealing with, giving them hope for a better future. I love how they give kids a fighting chance to be successful in life!

Pam Kazeil

Executive VP, Finance
Sinopec Canada

A Wood’s Homes Board member encouraged me to join the Finance Committee 10 years ago. I was drawn to Wood’s Homes as an opportunity to help children and families in our community.
